General Information About Dublin
Dublin is the capital city of Ireland. Located on the East Coast of Ireland it stretches along the Irish Sea in a half moon shape. The city is bordered to the South by the dramatic Wicklow Mountains. Dublin has a very rich history. Since the Vikings invaded around the 8th century through 700 years of Norman occupations, English rule and the formation of the Republic of Ireland in the 1920’s, the city of Dublin has had a varied history. This means there is plenty for visitors to see from a cultural point of view. Just look upwards at any building and you’ll see what we mean. Through the centuries, The Craic and an unruly artistic streak have helped shape Dublin into what it is now. Oscar Wilde, James Joyce and Jonathan swift all had it, even playwright Samuel Beckett knew the “Craic”. U2 hail from Dublin and many others. Dublin is a city of two halves: Northside and Southside. you’ll find good banter by choosing a side and getting stuck into a conversation with a local. Temple bar is where the life and soul of the cities bars are however it is very Touristy and can be expensive. We suggest finding South William street or around the upper Grafton Street area for a nicer pint and food.
